I want one of these. I watched the making of Dawn Of The Dead last weekend - they had a lot of fun making that alright. I first saw it at about 14, in the prime of my horror watching / violence de-sensitising, and it still holds up pretty well today (except the pie fight?). I watched the remake with me mate that I watched the orginal with way back then - it's become our little tradition. "You wanna watch a DVD Friday night?" "Yep, what do ya fancy?" "Something with heads coming off?" "Righto".

You pick up loads of Peter Jackson's influences watching Romero's films - more in the Bad Taste era stuff obviously, but if you squint, you can make out a bit of Zombie in the Orcs I reckon.

I've been bookmarking some cool (well, cool for me. Shut up.) pages lately, and been slack about blogging them, so I'm clearing them up. I know, you'll just have to bear with me.

First up - Zombie mob. These hipsters terrorised downtown San Francisco, George A. Romero style one Saturday morning, just in time for Land of the Dead. Anyone wanna storm Aotea Square, The Viaduct, or a Destiny Church parade like this?

You'll like it if : You're a fan of recent Brit TV comedy. Spaced's Simon Pegg is Shaun, the 30ish slacker who, in a moment of inspiration, decides the pub is the best place to wait out a Zombie attack. His gaggle of mates includes Dawn from the Office, and Bernard from Black Books, plus Ed, who along with Ricky from Made must be one of the all time annoying assholes ever created for the screen. I quite like annoying assholes.

The best bit was : when Shaun and the crew run into another band of Zombie hunters - and there's Tim from The Office! Tamsin from Black Books! George Dawes! Your man from The League Of Gentlemen! I just about shat I was so happy.
